Contoura Vision LASIK

Go beyond 20/20. Prasan Nethralaya utilizes advanced topography to map 22,000 unique elevation points on your eye, delivering customized, high-definition laser vision correction.

The Evolution of Laser Vision Correction

For decades, traditional LASIK surgery has been incredibly successful at freeing patients from glasses and contact lenses. However, standard LASIK is based solely on your glasses prescription (your numbers for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism). It treats your eye as a smooth, uniform surface.

In reality, the human cornea is not perfectly smooth. Like a fingerprint, it is covered in microscopic peaks and valleys. When light hits these tiny imperfections, it scatters, causing subtle visual distortions like glare, halos, and poor night vision. Contoura Vision (Topography-Guided LASIK) is the first technology designed to eliminate these microscopic flaws.

The Contoura Advantage

By treating the unique topography of your eye, Contoura Vision delivers results that older lasers simply cannot match:

  • High-Definition Clarity: Many patients achieve better vision than they ever had with glasses.
  • Reduced Glare & Halos: Significantly improves nighttime driving and light sensitivity.
  • Enhanced Contrast: Colors appear more vibrant and textures are sharper.
  • 100% Bladeless Safety: Utilizes advanced Femtosecond laser technology.

The Surgical Protocol

Dr. Neelam Sharma executes the Contoura Vision protocol using a two-laser system, ensuring absolute precision, safety, and comfort.

1. The Topographic Mapping (The Blueprint)

Before you ever enter the surgical suite, your eye undergoes a highly advanced scan using a Topolyzer. This device captures 22,000 unique elevation points on your cornea. This massive amount of data is used to create a 3D, computer-generated "blueprint" that is entirely unique to your eye. This blueprint is directly uploaded to the surgical laser.

2. The Bladeless Femtosecond Flap

Once your eye is completely numbed with anesthetic drops, Dr. Neelam uses a highly precise Femtosecond laser to create a microscopic, protective flap on the surface of your cornea. Unlike older methods, no metal blades are ever used. The laser creates a perfect, ultra-thin flap that is gently folded back to expose the inner corneal tissue.

3. Topo-Guided Excimer Ablation

Next, the advanced Excimer laser takes over. Guided by your custom 22,000-point topographic blueprint, the laser pulses to gently reshape your cornea. It not only flattens the tissue to correct your glasses prescription, but it specifically targets and smooths out the microscopic peaks and valleys, creating a perfectly even optical surface. This step takes only seconds.

4. Rapid Healing

The protective flap is gently folded back into place. Because of the bladeless precision of the Femtosecond laser, the flap seals itself naturally within minutes—no stitches are required. Visual recovery is incredibly rapid, with most patients experiencing life-changing clarity by the very next morning.

Candidacy and Considerations

Contoura Vision is FDA-approved for patients 18 years and older with a stable prescription. However, because it relies on reshaping the cornea, your cornea must have adequate thickness and be free from diseases like Keratoconus. The only way to determine if your eyes are eligible for this premium procedure is to undergo a comprehensive biometric and topographic evaluation at Prasan Nethralaya.

Questions.

Clinical clarity regarding bladeless safety, nighttime glare, and achieving high-definition clarity.

Standard LASIK only corrects your basic glasses prescription (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism). Contoura Vision goes a massive step further. It uses a topographer to map 22,000 microscopic elevation points on your cornea, smoothing out tiny imperfections to provide a higher quality, 'high-definition' visual outcome.

Yes. This is one of its greatest benefits. Because Contoura smooths out the microscopic bumps and dips on the surface of your eye that scatter incoming light, patients typically experience a significant reduction in nighttime glare, halos, and starbursts compared to older LASIK methods.

Absolutely. At Prasan Nethralaya, Contoura Vision is performed as a 100% bladeless procedure. We use a highly advanced Femtosecond laser to create the protective corneal flap, rather than a traditional metal microkeratome blade, ensuring maximum safety and precision.

Visual recovery is remarkably fast. Most patients notice a dramatic improvement in clarity immediately after sitting up from the laser bed. You can typically return to normal activities, screen time, and driving within 24 to 48 hours.

While 20/20 is the standard goal, clinical studies show that a significant percentage of Contoura Vision patients actually achieve 20/15 vision or better. This means their post-surgery vision is actually crisper and clearer than it ever was when wearing glasses or contacts.
