How the Cashless Process Works

A streamlined, stress-free pathway from diagnosis to discharge.

1

Clinical Diagnosis

During your consultation, our surgeon determines if a procedure (like Cataract or Vitrectomy) is medically necessary and advises surgery.

2

Pre-Authorization

Submit your active Insurance Card, a valid Government Photo ID, and medical records to our TPA desk. We initiate the approval request directly with your insurer.

3

Surgical Admission

Once your TPA sends the initial approval letter, you arrive on your scheduled date and are admitted without needing to pay any upfront deposits for covered expenses.

4

Smooth Discharge

Post-surgery, our billing team handles the final settlement with the insurance company while you recover in our lounge. You just sign the final claim forms and head home.

Clinical Transparency:
Understanding Co-Payments

It is important to note that while standard procedures are fully covered by most TPAs, your policy may have an upper financial limit or specific sub-limits for certain items.

For example, if you opt for a Premium Toric or Multifocal IOL during Cataract surgery, or a highly advanced Robotic FLACS procedure, your insurance may cover the cost up to the standard limit, and you will simply be required to pay the difference (co-pay) prior to discharge. Our TPA desk will explain all costs clearly before any surgery begins.

Insurance & Billing Questions

Common inquiries regarding health coverage and reimbursements.

What if my insurance company is not listed on your panel?

If your specific TPA or insurance provider is not directly empaneled with us, you can still undergo surgery at Prasan Nethralaya on a reimbursement basis. You will pay the hospital bills directly, and we will provide you with a meticulously prepared, stamped claim file (including discharge summary and invoices) to submit to your insurer for a full reimbursement.

How long does the pre-authorization process take?

Once we submit your documents to the TPA, the initial approval typically takes anywhere from 4 to 24 hours depending on the insurance company. We highly recommend submitting your documents a few days before your planned surgery to ensure a smooth, zero-wait admission.

Does insurance cover LASIK or SMILE surgery?

Generally, refractive surgeries like LASIK, SMILE, and ICL are considered cosmetic or elective procedures and are not covered by standard health insurance policies. However, there are exceptions if your refractive error is exceptionally high (e.g., above -7.5D) or caused by an injury. Our team can help verify your specific policy terms.

Are post-operative medications covered under cashless?

Standard consumables used *during* the surgery and your hospital stay are covered. However, pharmacy drops and medications prescribed for you to take at home after discharge are usually not covered under the cashless claim and must be purchased separately.
